This is about a time when I didnt know ABCD of Hindi at Cochin. I had got admission into Kendriya Vidyalaya when I was in 4th std and hindi is one of the compulsory subjects in all KVs. My neighbour who was studying in college told my mom that she would teach me learn hindi. She would jump across the wall and come to my home every day evening to teach me. Anyway she did a very good job and in no time I found hindi easy to handle. To help me with the learning process, most of my friends were from north India coz the school was inside Southern Naval Command.
Coming to the main story, it was the unit test 1 in hindi (UT-1). We were supposed to change gender. I had noticed that changing gender was easy in hindi for most of the words. 
You need to change the “-cha” sound to “-chi”. For example “Bacha=Bachi”. There were totally 10 questions. I knew the first 9 very well, but got stuck at the 10th one. When it was time to submit papers I made a wild guess and submitted my paper.
Days later when the paper was being give out, I had scored 39/40. 
My hindi teacher called me to the front and asked me to change gender of “Raja” (king). I blinked coz that was the question for which I had made a guess. I gathered courage and told the answer I had written in front of the class- “Raji”!!!
