I got scholarship!!! :D November 7, 2007

Just now my dad gave me Rs. 1500 today and told that I had earned it. I was wondering how on earth did I earn that amount sitting at home orkutting and chatting 24×7. It seems that Canara Bank (where my dad works) gives scholarship for son/daughters who have scored above 90% in degree. Since I have 92% over all in my BTech I am eligible for it. Anyway as I always does, this money too goes to my mom.

How to pass exams the easy way November 7, 2007

I am going to explain here how we (myself and Sharad) passed exams the last two semesters with good marks. Looking back sometimes even I wonder how we managed to even pass the subjects.

Note: I do not take any responsibility for any arrears that may arise due to the method mentioned here. Use at your own discretion.

Note to my parents: I lied. When you used to ask me whether I finished studying a week before the exams I actually didnt even know which subjects I had for the sem.

Aim: To pass exams the easy way

Apparatus Required:
1. The subject name must be known
2. A roommate who is good at studies (very important)
3. Ability to write stories in exam

Assumption:
1. Exam is tomorrow

Steps:
1. 2 days prior to exam get exam timetable
2. Order for xerox copy of the subject book
3. Play computer game in lan with roommate/ watch movie/ chit-chat late night

On the day prior to exam:
1. No preassure, wake up slow
2. 6pm: go to tea shop and have tea
3. Reach back by 7, go though syllabus
4. Decide which part you are planning to study. The other half must be studied by roommate
5. Write down the points for each topic
6. 9pm: Have dinner
7. Keep chitchatting until you realise you have got exam the next day
8. 12am, finish preparing points
9. 12am-2am: Exchange notes and teach each other in your own way (in case you dont know something, builtup stories are very handy here)
10. 2am: Have a sound sleep
11. 8am: Wake up & get ready
12. Write the exam

Result:
So far in our case this steps have worked very well.

Kids these days are too intelligent November 7, 2007

This story is about my niece Aditi. This happened when she was 3 years old and I was in my 1st year of engineering. She had come from US to native for hols. Ok so the story goes like this. She loves playing with me and one evening we were playing with hey doggie toy. Suddenly ammumma came and called her to drink milk. She said that she wants to play some more time.

Me: Ok, we will play tomorrow. Since its getting late lets tie this dog to the front gate.
Her: Why do you want to do that?
Me: So that the dog would guard the house…
Her: You can’t do that. (looking amazed)
Me: Why not? (expecting her to say the dog will fell lonely or some kid stuff)
Her: Bcoz its a TOY!!!

My ammumma started laughing and for a moment I felt she is a 18 year old girl and I am a 3 year kid playing with the toy.

When I started loving english songs… November 7, 2007

To be frank I hated english songs. I dont know why, but they didnt make any sense to me. The fact is I never cared to listen to it coz I thought they were just shouting stuff on top of their lungs which wouldnt make any sense even if I cared to listen.

Things changed when my parents got transferred at the end of 3rd year and I started searching for a room near collge. Lucky for me, my best friend Sharad had just moved in to a new home and was searching for a roommate coz there were only 4 of them so far and they needed 5. Hence I was in….

Now Sharad was as ace in english songs. He knew about each and every songs released so far and infact he had this huge collection of video songs. Once he bought computer of his own, my headache started. Sharad had challenged me that by the time I finish engineering, even I would start loving it too. Gradually I started listening to what they were actually singing about. Again most of them didnt make any sense (especially the rap), but some were really really good. And needless to say, I lost the bet within a month. The lyrics of some of the songs were really touching, some were good just to listen to. So here is a list of some of the songs in no particular order, and yes its a bit old.

My Favourite Gtalk Language November 7, 2007

TP- Self invented and now widely used by all my friends. While sitting idle at home for few months waiting for Nov to arrive, whenever someone asked me online “What are you doing?” the answer would be “TP’. Guess what TP is? Yup, thats right…. “Timepass” This was far more easier than explaining what exactly I was doing.

 BRB- “Be right back”. Very handy when 5-6 gtalk window suddenly opens up and you need to put some people on hold. For those who are reading this, sometimes “BRB” was genuine. And if you are best friend, “BRB” was always genuine.

LOL-”Laughing Out Loud”

ROFL-”Rolling on floor with laughter”

He he- Again laughing, and can be used to avoid repetetion of above two words.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa- Nope, thats not serious crying. Commonly used when a person says bye for that day. Only used with best friends in gtalk.

OMG- Oh My God

WTF- Ehmmm… self explainatory
